Avoiding Burnout

Super cool AI generated image.

Burnout Sucks, here’s how you can avoid it:

Content guru: “Post 10 times a day to grow your account”.

Us: No, that would be a one way ticket to burnout land, where creators die.

How about this, instead of trying to post 10x a day on every platform, try making the most entertaining and engaging content possible.

QUALITY IS BETTER THAN QUANTITY. Nobody wants to watch 10 pieces of trash content, so focus on quality like your account growth depends on it (it does).

Here is a great podcast clip by Gary Vee on burnout and how to avoid it:

Original content causes burnout.

Creating only 100% original content is not only risky, but will again lead you strait to burnout land.

Instead, use other creators / content as inspiration to create your content with. Obviously do not copy word for word, but make slight changes so that your chance of virality is higher.

If you want to find content ideas that will go viral in your niche here are the steps:

  1. Go to the top creators in your niche and see which one of their recent posts performed the best.

  2. Create a video similar to theirs while adding your own original touch.

  3. Rinse and repeat.

Here is am article by Harvard Business Review that talks about burnout in depth:

Document, don’t create.

I’m going to reference the content god Gary Vee again here, he famously says “document, don’t create” when asked about the best way to produce content.

Some examples of documentation style content include:

  • Day in the life

  • Fixing something

  • Building something

  • Travelling

Pretty much anything in your life that is going to happen regardless of you making a video about it, is considered documentation style content.

Conclusion.

Burnout is different for everyone, with different levels of intensity, but the most powerful tool you have as a content creator is being able to avoid and push through feelings of uncertainty on this journey.
