Making Money as a Small Creator 📸

If you have under 10k followers on pretty much any platform, you are considered a “nano” influencer. So how does a nano influencer make money?

You have a few options, but the best advice I can give is to start reaching out to brands (especially small brands). At this follower size you should not be trying to haggle a price for a flat fee with these brands, just take their free products and ask for an affiliate deal.

Here is our template we use to email brands to pitch a collaboration:

Free sauce, your welcome…

Some Tips for Reaching Out to Brands via Email

  • Email their marketing department, and if they don’t have their marketing email available on their website, ask customer support for it.

  • Keep your pitch short and simple. Tell them why a collaboration would be mutually beneficial and mention your deliverables such as a link in bio, dedicated video, honest product review, etc. This first email should be under 100 words.

  • Follow-up, marketing teams are busy, and your email might get lost in the storm, so send a follow up if they do not respond within a week. Do not spam them and follow your local spam guidelines.

  • Reach out to brands that creators in your niche have recently worked with. This means they are currently engaging in influencer partnerships making it more likely for you to secure a brand deal.

  • Do not give up, reach out to 100 brands before you decide if you need to change something.

Note: If the first promotion performs well you can definitely negotiate a paid deal for the second video.

I just laid out everything you need to secure a brand deal as a small creator. So now all you have to do is actually put in the work and get some deals.

If you got this far make sure to refer us to someone that is already or wants to become a content creator.

Good luck in the week ahead!
